Tell us a little about yourself.
I am 28 years old, born and raised in Oregon Country. I am a member of The Confederated tribes of Grand Ronde and I work for Spirit Mountain Casino. I have a 2-year-old American Bullie fur baby named Xena The Warrior Princess. Besides fitness, I'm into culture, art, psychology, music, food and weird stuff like aliens and out of body experiences. I have been Crossfitting for about 19 months now. Best decision I have made regarding my health.
How did you hear about CrossFit and why did you start?
I would drive by the box (CherryCity Crossfit) downtown, the red walls and giant tires caught my eye. I thought about joining for a very long time before I actually got the courage to sign up. I was terrified of starting something new and being the new kid. I was so scared because I had no idea how to do something I had never done. I started because I wanted to take my fitness to the next level.
How has CrossFit changed your life?
I've gained confidence and overall happier. Crossfit has changed my life for the better, it's become a lifestyle. I am in the best shape of my life while still continuing to grow and learn as an athlete. Crossfit has given me the extra push and motivation to become better and keep pushing my body to its limits and then continually exceeding those limits to reach new levels of strength and stamina.
What have you accomplished, that you couldn't before, because of CrossFit?
Weightlifting. Before CrossFit I had no clue how to do anything except Cardio. I am so proud to be a woman that has that knowledge and strength.
Tell us one goal or P.R. you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
Overall, long-term goal is to continue to learn and develop my skills with every workout. I still have a long way to go before I make it to the Crossfit games lol. But eventually, I would like to do superhuman stuff like legless rope climbs, and HSPU on the rings. And one day I aspire to become a coach and inspire others.
What is your favorite part of Cherry City CrossFit?
The Energy. We all push, encourage and motivate each other. I was scared of being a beginner but now here I am 19 months later extremely happy and satisfied that I chose CherryCity as my home. I am proud to belong to CherryCity Crossfit family. Also, my favorite part is after a grueling workout where you lay on the ground and recover with sweat angels.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
Weightlifting is my favorite. My most favorite weightlifting days are leg days. And my most favorite lift is the deadlift. Deadlifting is my favorite. I just love deadlifting.
What is your LEAST favorite CrossFit movement?
HSPU. Because they hurt and I need to work on them.
Why do you fight? What pushes or motivate you?
Every day I get to open my eyes is a blessing. Recognizing that and living it each day is what motivates me to keep pushing myself and to push my body to its limits. Because I am alive I have a body I am physically able to. I see it as a blessing. I do it for my mental well-being just as much as my physical. I do it for the people who can't. There is nothing that makes me feel more alive than a killer WOD.
