Tell us a little about yourself.
CJ's the name and crossfits the game. I like long WOD's on the beach and dumbbell snatches on the sunset. Currently 29, for occupation I tend Slot machines at Spirit Mountain Casino. 10 months ago I was a wad of cookie dough, training at C3 carved me out of stone.
How did you hear about CrossFit and why did you start?
My good friend Alicia introduced me to the sport of crossfit. I use to be that mislead lion thinking he was a sheep, hanging out with a bunch of other sheep eating grass saying "bah!" One day I developed the ability to take action. The idea got to hot and the emotion got to strong that I didn't hesitate or second guess myself, went into C3 and signed up and showed up. Showing up is the hardest part, but after a few weeks it becomes a habit. A Habit your future self will thank you for.
How has CrossFit changed your life?
I sacrifice finding fulfillment in smoking a pack a day, to having better mile time. Up my cardio and stamina. I've also developed a good sense of physical and mental awareness but it's an on going process. I've learned to commit myself to something that will someday motivate and inspire others.
What have you accomplished, that you couldn't before, because of CrossFit?
A nice snatch. Cleaning and jerking more then my body weight. Ring and bar muscle ups. Double unders. Consistency.
Tell us one goal or P.R. you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
A goal to stay Hungry, Happy and Humble. I want to break my front squat, ring muscle up PR.
What is your favorite part of Cherry City CrossFit?
My favorite thing about C3 is the sense of community. Through the struggle and sweat we all endure, together or alone at all our different skill and intensity levels it all happens at C3. In the end of EVERY WOD we find a little more happiness, at least 10% more.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
My favorite crossfit movement, Ring muscle ups and squat snatch. The high flying fun of swinging and the explosiveness in both these movements are challenged by my ability/struggle to contain the chaos, is fun.
What is your LEAST favorite CrossFit movement?
This is a hard question because I've trained myself to love the movements I once hated. Kinda like a song you don't like, you still know the words. My least fav movements were anything and everything that involved the use of leg muscles. For my entire life I skipped leg day, I was like a centaur but instead of a horse I was a chicken legs.
Why do you fight? What pushes or motivate you?
why I fight? I fight for God, he's been there for me on the brightest days and I find strength within him through my darkest moments. Stay connected to the vine and you will bear GAINZ!!
