Tell us a little about yourself.
Summary: I have been happily married for 6 years. I enjoy outdoor activities (hiking, camping, backpacking, etc.) and going on adventures. I like to stay active and exercise. Some people would say I'm tall.
How did you hear about CrossFit and why did you start?
I had heard about CrossFit from some friends and after driving by, I decided to come in and try it out.
How has CrossFit changed your life?
CrossFit has changed my life in several ways. First, I'm in better shape than I have been since high school. I work out 4-5 times a week and before CrossFit, I would only workout on my own maybe 2 times a week, usually not motivated to go. Second, I am eating a lot healthier and cooking at home more often in order to help me progress. Third, it has helped me become a lot stronger and more flexible.
What have you accomplished, that you couldn't before, because of CrossFit?
When I started CrossFit, I could barely do 1 pull up. I recently hit a PR of 12 strict pull-ups. I am also very close to hitting some other goals I have been working on for a while. I can almost do overhead squats (flexibility issue) and I am close to hitting my goal of 100 unbroken double-unders and am close to hitting my deadlift goal of 410#.
Tell us one goal and P.R. you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
One goal I have is to be able to do 1 real overhead squat with a decent amount of weight. I have been struggling with it for a while because of my lack of shoulder mobility but I have improved a lot.
What is your favorite part of Cherry City CrossFit?
One of my favorite things about C3 is the community of people that we work out with every day. It's a lot of fun. Working out at a 24-hour gym on your own gets really boring very quickly.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
My favorite CrossFit movement is deadlift. I can lift a lot more weight in this movement than any other and it seems to come more naturally than some other movements.
What is your LEAST favorite CrossFit movement?
My least favorite movement is either burpees or wall balls in high volume. They are hard but rewarding after you complete them.
Why do you fight? What pushes or motivate you?
I fight for a lot of reasons. First, I get annoyed by how many overweight, out of shape, lazy people I see every day. I don't want to be one of them. I also want to live a long healthy life and CrossFit definitely helps with that.
