Tell us a little about yourself.
Well hello there, my name is Erika Miranda, I am 26 years old, born and raised in Oregon. I am Native American, Member of The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde & Hispanic. I am a Mother to a 10-year-old little girl named Ayita. I work as a receptionist at Premier Endocrinology Associates. I love Dancing and Music (I love all different genres of music).
How did you hear about CrossFit and why did you start?
I heard about CrossFit through my best friend Alicialeigh Selwyn, she had been talking constantly about CrossFit and how much she loved the gym and the environment. She also, expressed to me how much it would be a right fit for me and that I would fall in love with it. I wanted to join but just kept making up excuses of why I couldn’t start yet. Finally, I had had enough about feeling down about myself, not having energy like I used too and going home and sitting on my couch, paying for a gym membership I was never using. I gave in, signed up, now I am completely hooked!
How has CrossFit changed your life?
CrossFit has changed my life in many ways. I have gained such an amazing support system through the other Athletes and coaches at Cherry City, I have gained my energy back, no longer sit on my couch, now I can say I pay for a gym pass that I will use, and attend to almost every day not only because I pay for the membership, but because I absolutely love going to CrossFit, and challenging myself to crush goals. I used to use the “I can’t do this” and give up now I push myself, and work harder to achieve many other goals that I never thought I would be doing.
What have you accomplished, that you couldn't before, because of CrossFit?
Well first off, I NEVER thought I would have competed in any sports, I have never been a sports person always was scared to step out of my comfort zone, now I can say that accomplished my first ever Partner Competition.
Tell us one goal or P.R. you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
My goal is to get those dang double unders down. So, I don’t have to do so many single unders
What is your favorite part of Cherry City CrossFit?
My absolute favorite thing about C3 would have to be the coaches and Athletes. When you hear “CrossFit Family” there really is a family vibe there. I absolutely love the energy, the excitement, encouragement & support we have for one another. Nothing is better than being part of the Cherry City CrossFit Family that for sure!!
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
My favorite CrossFit movement would have to be dumbbell snatches & dead lifts. It’s a love hate relationship with a lot of the movements in CrossFit but once I get them down I just love feeling the muscles that are being worked and knowing that one day they will be shining through hahaha
What is your LEAST favorite CrossFit movement?
My least favorite would have to be Burpees, by far!
Why do you fight? What pushes or motivate you?
Why do I fight? What Pushes me and Motivates me? Number one thing would be for lifestyle change, I want to fight to be healthier and more athletic, that way I can live my life to the fullest and keep up with Ayita. My daughter is my biggest motivation and cheerleader, your children look up to you, I want to make her proud and show her the strength a human body is capable of. Hopefully someday my daughter will love CrossFit as much as I do and become an amazing Athlete herself. What motivates me? My coaches and the athletes at Cherry City CrossFit. I feel motivated to show up every day to be there for my CrossFit Family and become a stronger Athlete.
