Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm 65 years old, work a sedentary job, as a Finance Director for the Oregon School Boards Association. I have worked in accounting in one form or another for 41 years. I like fishing, hunting, water skiing, and playing with my grand kids (10 of them ages 16 to 3).
How did you hear about CrossFit and why did you start?
In 2005 I had triple by pass open heart surgery and to keep myself healthier I was doing a lot of walking. I noticed I was losing some of my balance and I was lookiing for ways to improve my balance. I joined another club here in Salem doing boot camp and the club cancelled my class. I really didn't know much about crossfit however, I found Cherry City crossfit through their web site. I liked the Christian values presented and also the bio of other club members. I talked another class member into joining with me (Nick).
How has CrossFit changed your life?
Crossfit has changed my life by making me want to be more active, improving my balance, increasing my strength and making exercise fun. The positive support I receive from all the trainers Ryan, Becca, Jenna, and the members of Cherry City Crossfit is just awesome. I have never felt I didn't belong even I need to do a modified exercise.
What have you accomplished, that you couldn't before, because of CrossFit?
I have walked lots of miles over the last 12 years it has been years since I ran 3,600 meters ( no it wasn't fast). I feel more alert at work and have started walking some at lunch again.
Tell us one goal or P.R. you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
Double Unders so I can do them with my grandaughter.
What is your favorite part of Cherry City CrossFit?
My favorite thing about C3 is just the positive energy. People you don't know very well who are more fit congratulating you when you PR. The variety of class times helps as well. Everyone is there to help each other putting away equipment or just giving encouragement.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
The Snatch 2 AT A HUNDRED LBS BABY!!!!!
What is your LEAST favorite CrossFit movement?
Burpeeeeees!!!!!!! Never have Never will
Why do you fight? What pushes or motivate you?
I fight because I want to keep going with my active life style hobbies.....Grandchildren. A Dr told me that this is the best thing i could do to stay off a walker or wheel chair.
