The team that started Cherry City CrossFit

Quite a handsome bunch, eh?
Ryan Savage
Head Coach

I’ve been a part of the CrossFit community since 2010. A buddy of mine told me to “Come check out this crazy fitness program, CrossFit!”. Ever since that first class, I’ve been hooked. I’ve spent over many years in various environments coaching and training for competitions. From small kids to senior citizens, I have experience working with all ages. In 2013, I trained and helped the Springfield High volleyball team to have the most successful year in the school’s history. (See recommendation letter here) I was born in Salem, OR and moved to Springfield, IL in 2004. However, Salem kept tugging at my heart to come back home. So, I made the move back home in January 2014 to pursue my dream of owning and running my own CrossFit gym.

Terry Savage
Business Manager

I’m the co-owner of CherryCity CrossFit along with my son Ryan and my son-in-law Nick. I grew up on a small farm in Yamhill, OR and enjoyed helping my dad work the farm and go fishing. I also enjoyed playing football at Y-C High School. After graduating from Seattle Pacific University, with a BA in Business Administration, I started a career in auto insurance. Eventually, I moved to Springfield, IL and I’m now the National Subrogation Manager at Horace Mann Insurance Company. I’m also the Business Manager at CherryCity CrossFit.

Nick Pritchett
Technology Director

I’m co-owner and the Technology Director here at CherryCity CrossFit. I’ve spent the majority of my life in the Midwest and my wife is originally from Salem. We relocated to Salem in 2015 and couldn't be happier to finally be here together. I started CrossFit back in 2008 after reading an article in NY Times Magazine about the program. I dove in head first and was immediately hooked. I eventually coerced several friends into joining me as well and it was a blast getting together for WODs. There is something really special about the bond that is built with these people and the way you challenge one another.
